Snow Days

The whole city intensified the impact of the snow storm, but that didn't mean I wasn't prepared for the worse to come. Right after the storm had ended, I headed for the door to see what all the fuss was about. It wasn't anything major, but I can't complain - I got a day off from class. I went with some basic essentials that provided the perfect casual outfit for the wintertime, especially on a snowy day.

Turtlenecks are totally in this season, but I went with something a little more subtle. I bought this mock turtle neck from Ann Taylor during their sale, and I've been living in it. It's a cashmere and wool blend sweater with a high neck-line, creating a faux turtleneck look. This is me embracing the turtle neck trend in a really subdued way. For outerwear, I wore my shearling lined parka from Topshop. I always appreciate small details, so when I saw there the leather detailing on the shoulders, I knew that this was the perfect parka for me. The furry hood also gives a nice eskimo look when I want to keep my head warm on the coldest of days.

For my bottoms, I went with my trusty leggings that provide the utmost comfort for lazy days. I also wanted to stick with warmer tones, so I went with a pair of brown leather gloves and brown boots. I didn't go with my usual black boots. I sported this pair of brown boots from Tory Burch. However, this may not be the smartest of choice when there's snow on the ground. Go with a pair of boots with a traction sole on the bottom to prevent slipping.

Happy Wednesday, everyone!
