Chanel Le Boy

I've been eyeing the Chanel Le Boy bag for quite a while, but I was hesitant for many reasons. To name a few -- I couldn't find a color-way other than black that I loved and I wasn't ready to spend a couple grand on another black bag. During my trip to Europe, I visited multiple Chanel multiple times in Paris, and even made a trip to their storefront in Amsterdam. Quite frankly, I didn't think I would be treating myself to another Chanel bag until the very last day in Paris. How I got the Le Boy was a rollercoaster ride in of itself and now that it's a part of my growing bag collection, I'll be sharing my review of the Chanel Le Boy bag. Hopefully, those who are debating and contemplating about this bag will find this review helpful!

During my last day in Paris, I reluctantly asked our lovely (and patient) SA about their Le Boy bag color selection. He ended up showing me their entire wall of Chanel Le Boy's for me to take a look at. There rows and rows of black ones, but I quickly narrowed my selection to something not black but still neutral with gold hardware. That only left me with so many choices, but when he took this bag out, it was like love at first sight. Never in a million years did I think I would go for a white bag (or cream for that matter), but it was such an 'ah ha' moment. Also, imagine my look when he brought out a brand new one that's never been touched. I was sold.

This Chanel Le Boy is an off-white/cream lamb skin leather with light gold hardware. It's a color combination I've never seen before, and perhaps for a good reason. This bag will come with a lot of worries. I have to be mindful of what I wear with this bag because color transfer will be a nightmare. I have to be extra gentle with the bag because its delicate material is prone to scratches. Yet, despite all these potential red-flags, I couldn't turn the bag away. The cream leather definitely stands out in my bag collection of almost all black bags. I love that it was paired with, what our SA called, champagne hardware. Can you just take a moment to imagine any outfit in the world, and this bag would work so perfectly.

At the store, I didn't even contemplate whether to go for the old or new medium size. The measurements of the old medium are 5.7" x 9.8" x 3.5" -- it's more rectangular than the new medium, but because I'm relatively tiny, I didn't need a bigger bag. I'm 5'4 with stick arms, so I hate hate hate big bags. I only looked at the old medium size and didn't even take a glance at anything bigger. The great thing about the bag is that I can wear it on one shoulder or cross-body.

This bag may very well be one of my most spacious Chanel bags, after my tote. It even has more room than my medium Classic Chanel flap bags because the Chanel Le Boy has a wider body. I always carry my keys, wallet, and two phones with me, and all of my current bags are always running out of space. I like to hold my vlog camera sometimes, and maybe even a lipstick, so I think this bag will come in handy when I have a little more to bring.

The price of the bag is like the elephant in the room. It is on the pricier side, but without a doubt, increases every year. I don't buy bags for their resale value, because I truly appreciate the bag in of itself. But if that is on your mind, Chanel is one of the top brands that holds its value the most. From experience, buy any designer bag in Europe, because trust me, you'll be saving yourself big bucks. Plus, you'll be getting money back from tax refund at the airport. (This can be a long process to explain, so if you're interested in learning more about the VAT refund process, read about it here or feel free to ask me any questions).

I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I did writing about my new bag. Stay tuned for some outfits with 'him' because he does turn heads. Also, please don't hesitate to send me an email or leave a comment below if you have any questions about the bag or my bag collection! (We can have a whole conversation about bags, hehe).

  1. This bag is absolutely gorgeous! When I spotted it on your Instagram page I was smitten. It definitely is a combination that is not often seen, and I really think the light gold/champagne hardware really just sells it. Always super envious of your bag collection but love that you take such good care of each one and actually rotate your use of them. Excited to see what you pair 'him' with in the coming months :)

    1. Thank you so much, Cindy! This color combination is definitely something you don't see often, but I have far too many black bags. This was just the perfect way for me to try something new and different. Some to get more love than others, but I try my best to rotate. Can't wait to show you upcoming outfits with him. Love your blog btw! <3
